The city of Coppell issued a news release that since April there has been 25 reports of tire and wheel thefts in the city, and seven of the incidents happened this month.

The thieves have been striking late at night and early in the morning. When committing the thefts, the criminals reportedly raise the vehicles on jacks, remove the tires and then lower the vehicles onto landscaping bricks.

Local residents are encouraged to park their vehicles in secure areas, such as a garage, and use motion-activated lights to deter criminals. All suspicious activity should be reported to the Coppell Police Department by calling 911 or (972) 304-3610.
