A mover and shaker in her male dominated field, Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez has broken female stereotypes throughout her career.

Valdez will fittingly speak at the next Women in Business luncheon event which is part of a series hosted by the Coppell Chamber of Commerce that aims to empower females.

The event will take place on June 28 at the Hackberry Creek Country Club, 1901 W. Royal Lane, Irving, Texas, at 11:30 a.m.

Valdez is currently serving her third term as the Dallas County Sheriff has presided over the county as the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the Dallas county since Jan. 1, 2005.

Notably, in addition to being only one of four female sheriffs in Texas, she is also the only Hispanic female one.

According to Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, as sheriff she has accomplished to hire 400 new detention service officers and expand the freeway management patrol system which covers over 78 miles of in-county highways, construct the South Tower Jail Facility, one of the largest direct supervision facilities in the country with the capacity to house 2,304 inmates, the current construction of a 300 bed medical facility within the Lew Sterrett Justice Center, and improve the quality of overall health care for mentally ill inmates.
