Theatre Coppell to Present Pulitzer Prize Play

On a holiday, nothing is more fun for a family than an old-fashioned picnic. And picnics were even more important in the 1950s before social media. That’s when Theatre Coppell’s next play, Picnic, is set – on Labor Day in a small Kansas town.

The William Inge play – a Pulitzer Prize winner – was a Broadway hit in its time, and the movie version made stars of William Holden, Kim Novak, and Rosalind Russell.

The story involves the arrival of a likable drifter who enters the lives of three families, challenges their small-town complacency. and awakens them to difficult decisions. During their holiday, the prettiest girl in town must choose between the stranger and the wealthiest suitor in town.

Picnic will run February 3 through 19 at the Coppell Center for the Arts. Tickets are available at TheatreCoppell.com or 972-745-7719.
