Every six weeks Victory Place @ Coppell - Turning Point celebrates Genius! Congratulations to our 1st Six Weeks Graduates: Caleb Walker, Madison Hall, MacKenzie Johnson, Jaclyn Wallander, Julianna Sulski, Megan Chittenden, and Jose Mijares (Photo attached)

The Genius Award is given to learners who have shown excellent displays of the life principles we strive for here at Turning Point. Slow and steady wins the race. This idiom describes our Genius Award recipient’s journey while at Turning Point. When Shaheen Shafiee came to us in the first few weeks of school, he was unfocused. However, with guidance from the educators, we started to see him, slowly but surely, find his way. This demonstrates the life principle of perseverance. In addition, Shaheen shows the life principle of courtesy. He is always willing to help new learners understand the program, volunteer to raise the flag and writes caring words of encouragement in the graduation journals. He is a polite young man in a world where courtesy sometimes feels unpracticed. This translates in his interaction with educators and staff. He wants and is willing to take guidance and help in his classwork. In conclusion, we are reminded of a quote by Jim Rohn, “Success is steady progress toward one's personal goals.” Shaheen’s work ethic and demeanor are valued here at Turning Point. VP@C Team Member of the 1st Six Weeks – Mrs. Kelly Skillingberg is definitely an asset for Victory Place @ Coppell. Mrs. Skillingberg stepped out of her comfort zone and is serving as Team Lead for the Turning Point program. She also serves on various committees within CISD.  She is constantly looking for  ideas to grow our programs and make them run more efficiently.  She has remained consistent in her communications with team members, as well as ensuring that all team members are aware of their duties and roles, and holds them accountable. She makes everyone feel welcome; her teammates, learners and other stakeholders. This is her second year in Coppell ISD and she is already proving to be a great leader.  Mrs. Skillingberg holds herself, learners, and staff members to a high standard and seeks to empower them to become self-motivated and responsible. Mrs. Skillingberg has taken the lead in our Turning Point program from the first day of school with our initial orientation of new Turning Point learners and our beginning of the year open house for our families. She has stepped up to the plate to help all Math learners while one of our math educators is on maternity leave. She has shined in every endeavor that she encounters, from taking the lead with the Perot Museum Genius Hour, to our first Red Cross Blood Drive of the year.  Both were a great success due to her diligence and organization. She is helpful, hardworking, and a problem-solver who is also a caring and loyal  co-worker and educator. Mrs. Skillingberg leads by example and embodies the 17 Great Expectations Best Practices.   Being able to show her growth as a leader of peers, and being able to step out of her comfort zone and doing so in a successful manner, is a great example to not only learners, but other educators who may be apprehensive about assuming similar positions and responsibilities. Mrs. Skillingberg models all of our Life Principles with a smile on her face and always a pleasant, happy attitude. Mrs. Skillingberg, thank you for being a Genius! (photo attached)
