Rotary and YMCA Donate Time to Sort Supplies Members of the Coppell Rotary Club and Coppell Family YMCA helped sort donated school supplies and then delivered to all 13 CISD schools.

The Coppell Rotary Club, along with eleven other businesses, collected and delivered school supplies to all 13 CISD schools and Wellington Place apartments. “The generosity from businesses who were willing to collect, from employees we gave, from citizens who gave and from Coppell Rotarians who gave and then asked to help more people was truly unbelievable,” said Maureen Corcoran, Coppell Rotarian and leader of the school supply drive.

For two days Rotarians, along with volunteers from the Coppell Family YMCA and Daryl Flood Moving gathered supplies from the various business that collected supplies and then met at the Coppell Library to sort the supplies into groups for the 13 different CISD schools. “This year was different from past years,” said Corcoran because Lindsay Ayers, Director of Marketing and Business Partnerships for Coppell ISD had collected specific requests from each school prior to the end of the previous school year. We knew exactly what each school needed, made those specific requests available to the public, and then through the generosity of Coppell residents and businesses, we were able to fulfill those requests.”

In addition to the supplies collected, $588 was raised in cash and checks and $150 was collected in gift cards. “This money will be distributed to the schools as needed to buy any remaining items to ensure all children have what they need when the school bell rings on August 24th,” said Corcoran.

“The Coppell Rotary Club could not have done this alone.” she noted. “A special thank you goes to the Coppell Chamber of Commerce, the Coppell Fire Department, Frost Bank, Market Street, the Coppell Library, Erb Family Wellness, Orange Therapy, Starbucks, Daryl Flood Moving and the Coppell Family YMCA for collecting the school supplies. And to the volunteers from Daryl Flood Moving and the Coppell Family YMCA’s Community Services Committee, the Rotary Club thanks you for also volunteering your time to sort and deliver, thus making this school supply drive a reality.”
