A Coppell student has been named one of five finalists for the 2011 Davey O'Brien High School Scholarship Award, which is a $20,000 grant that is given to an "exceptional senior student-athlete from the North Texas area."

Coppell senior Haley Beck was selected as one of the finalists. Her credentials include being ranked No. 1 in her graduating class, and she was the captain of her cross country team. Also, Beck spent five years playing club volleyball.

The winner of the scholarship will be announced on Jan. 17 and formally recognized at an awards dinner on Feb. 20 at the Fort Worth Club.

The other finalists for the award are William Jameson at Duncanville High School, Lee Lueder at Lake Highlands High School, Kim Reimold at the Episcopal School of Dallas and Will Squiers at Cistercian Preparatory School.
