CHS Athletes Compete in Region 1 Track Meet

Twenty-nine CHS Track athletes traveled to Lubbock for the 5A Region 1 Meet held at Texas Tech's Fuller Track on April 27-28, 2012. One Cowgirl finished in the Top Two to advance to the State meet in Austin on May 11-12, 2012.

Junior Cassidy Pickrell won Second Place in the High Jump event, jumping 5'5” for Region 1 Silver and the opportunity to compete in the State meet in Austin.

Although not placing in the top two spots to advance to the State meet, impressive Top Ten finishes were posted by: Haley Cook - 4th Pole Vault; Chibuzor Osuji - 4th High Jump; Derek Udeh - 5th 300m Hurdles; Valerie Osamor - 6th 400m Run; Charles West, Omari Cole, Gavin McDaniel and Brandon Sanders - 6th 4x200m Relay; Sarah Agnew - 7th Pole Vault; Udeh - 7th 110m Hurdles; Leah Yates, Chiamaka Ukoha, Sierra Andres and Osamor - 7th 4x400m Relay; and Anna Novosadova - 10th 100m Hurdles.

In other Regional action, here's how the CHS athletes finished: 11th - Landon Grisset, Pole Vault; 12th – Agnew, 800m Run; 12th - Chris Adkins, Sanders, Darian Lowe and Udeh, 4x400m Relay; 13th – Clay Ross, Triple Jump; 17th – Lowe, 400m Dash; 17th - Cliftin Fadal, Long Jump; 17th - Marcus Mitchell, Triple Jump; 18th – Maddie Butzer, Haley Smith, Adaiwu Nwaiwu and Andres, 4x200m Relay; 20th – Smith, 100m Dash; 21st – Ross, Long Jump; 21st – Collins Okatcha – Triple Jump; 21st – Kate Rorhbough, 300m Hurdles; and 23rd – Leighton Light, Shot Put.

With 69 teams from eight 5-A Districts represented at the Region 1 5A Track meet in Lubbock, Coppell girls brought home a 14th Place team award, while the boys finished in 25th Place. Congratulations to all the CHS athletes.
