Theatre Coppell will be performing one of the most popular family musicals this summer.  Annie has captivated young and old alike for over 36 years.

In preparation, the theatre will be holding auditions not only for the little red-headed star, but also for Annie’s fellow orphans and the adult roles such as Miss Hannigan, Daddy Warbucks, and all the other adults in the show.

Director Wheelice Wilson says that the theatre will need seven girls, ages 6 to 12, to play Annie and the other orphans.  “These girls must be able to sing and dance, and they really need some stage experience,” says Wilson.

It is common for local actors to audition for plays and musicals, but this show will also require at least one unusual cast member: a dog.  Annie befriends a lost mutt during the show and names him Sandy.

Auditions for Sandy the dog will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m.  Wilson says that Sandy must look similar to the dog in the movie and must be kid-friendly.

Girls’ auditions are by appointment only on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Call 972-745-7719 and leave a message.  A theatre representative will return the call and schedule the appointment.

Auditions for the adult roles in the show will be held on Tuesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 15, starting at 7 p.m.

All auditions are held at the Center for the Arts, 157 S. Moore Road, in Coppell.
