St. Laurence Church Holds Ground Breaking Ceremony for New Parish Hall
Southlake, TX - Aug, 11, 2024 - On the 73rd anniversary of their founding, St. Laurence Anglican Church held a Ground Breaking ceremony for a new and much larger Parish Hall to accommodate their growing parish. Southlake Mayor Shawn McCaskill and Bishop Ryan Reed of the Diocese of Ft. Worth joined in the ceremony. A major highlight was the use of the same shovel that was used for the Ground Breaking of their Church in 1987 and their current Parish Hall in 1997.
“We’re excited to invest in the next generation of Christian believers with an expansion that is so much about giving our kids and youth a secure space to grow and learn about Jesus Christ. Our Parish family will soon be able to gather all together, and we’ll have even greater capacities to serve our community and to grow our ministries, ” said Fr. John Jordan, Rector of St. Laurence Church.
The new Parish Hall will be 3-1/2 times larger than the current Parish Hall and will include a large gathering space for social events, Bible studies, meetings, and service opportunities. The design also includes dedicated rooms for Middle School and High School Youth Groups and a commercial kitchen. The existing Parish Hall will be renovated to become a youth space with expanded nursery and classrooms, and will be used for their Parents Day Out program. Security will be a top priority. Other spaces include an outdoor prayer garden with a columbarium, 2 playgrounds and a back patio. Upon completion, the new Parish Hall will be available for community groups, meetings, weddings, and more.
St. Laurence Church, whose motto is “Faith, Family, Tradition,” was founded in 1951 in Grapevine and moved to Southlake in 1979. It is part of the Diocese of Ft. Worth and the Anglican Church in North America. Serving God through serving others is a primary focus for the Parish, which it does through its local ministry work with GRACE in Grapevine, Union Gospel Mission and the Gainesville State School as well as through its mission work abroad with the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi.
