Learn to “be green” at the City of Coppell’s annual Earthfest!  The EcoCoppell Earthfest, sponsored by Waste Management, educates residents on ways to lead more environmentally sustainable lifestyles.  This celebration raises awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment for future generations.  The City of Coppell will have several booths highlighting its continued proactive efforts to reduce the City’s environmental footprint.

Bring the kiddos and enjoy all the activities located throughout the Plaza. Come out and fly through the air on a bungee jump, paint your face with fun and vibrant colors, watch a live show by the mad scientist Professor Brainius, get a balloon shaped into your favorite character, and jam out to Coppell’s own, Def!nitely Maybe band, which will be powered by 100% solar energy provided by the Solar Shuttle.  And what would an event be without food?  Lunch and other refreshments will be available for purchase from MoJo’s Coffee truck, Kona Ice, and Papa Murphy’s.

As your family enjoys the entertainment and goodies, visit the wide variety of interactive educational booths to learn about easy ways you can help the environment.  Booths will cover topics such as wind and solar as alternative energy, water conservation, air quality, conserving natural resources, as well as numerous methods of reducing your impact on the environment.  Pick up your organic plants for your garden at the plant sale; all proceeds will go to the Coppell Community Garden.  In addition, North Texas Renewable Energy will be on site with an electric car show featuring a Tesla Roadster! Many craft vendors will sell products that stay true to the spirit of Earthfest.

During EcoCoppell Earthfest, residents doing some spring cleaning will also have the opportunity to drop off a variety of items at the “Fix - Up, Clean – Up” collection at Town Center Elementary, 185 N. Heartz Road.  Gently used household goods and clothing may be donated to charity.  Don’t forget the piles of documents that may be brought for secured shredding by First Shred.  Bulky trash items can also be disposed of in large containers donated by Waste Management. This collection will not be accepting household hazardous waste and electronics; however, the disposal of these items can be done through the “At Your Door Service" offered year round. Call 1-800-449-7587 for this service.
