The Cowboys JV Lacrosse team looked right at home in their first road contest of the season, posting a convincing 14-3 win over Plano East JV this past Friday evening at Jack Clark Fields in Plano.

One of the most dominant performance of the game was turned in by Faceoff Middie Reece Reynolds, who won the clamp on all but one face off, and won possession for Coppell on 74% of his face offs. He added an assist, 3 groundballs, and 1 forced turnover for good measure. The team hustle was on display as well as Coppell had a 35-16 advantage over Plano East in groundballs won.

The Coppell defense kept Plano East’s scoring to a minimum, led by 5 saves on 8 shots by goalie Lee Martin, for a combined 73% team save percentage. Close defenders Sophomore David Lucas and Junior Lars Mazurek each forced turnovers and Freshman Reid Robbins (3 groundballs, 3 forced turnovers) had a scoop and score fast break goal, as a follow up to his assist in last week’s game.

The offense started scoring early in this game, and never really let up. It was an unselfish effort as Coppell got assists on 10 of their 14 goals, and there were 10 different players who scored goals for the Cowboys. Top performances came in the form of a hat trick from Junior Marc Webb (3 goals, 1 assist), and balanced overall production from Sophomore Ethan Bivens (2 goals, 2 assists, 6 GB’s and 3 forced turnovers) and Freshman Peyton Barron (2 goals, 2 assists, 3 GB’s and 1 forced turnover).

The JV Boys will again take to the road for their next scheduled game on Wednesday, March 1 at 6:30 PM, when they take on the Frisco HS JV team. Please come support the team as they look to remain undefeated on the year.
