Coppell Shows Spirit in Fighting Win against Pearce

On Tuesday night, Pearce High School gave the state champion Coppell Cowboys soccer team a tougher than expected challenge.  However, the Cowboys demonstrated that when needed, they know how to dig in and fight to earn a win against a tough opponent.

Wyatt Priest opened the scoring for Coppell early in the game.  And shortly after his first goal, Priest again was on hand to double the Coppell’s lead to 2-0.  Despite the deficit, Pearce continued to battle throughout the first half.

For most of the second half the game was hard fought, but an even contest. Pearce did get the ball in the net only to have the goal disallowed for being offside.  Just as it appeared that Coppell would be able to play out the game without their opponent scoring, Pearce earned its first goal with 5 minutes remaining.  With Coppell ahead by only one goal, Pearce mounted an exciting end-of-game challenge.  An outstanding save from central defender Jordan Pemberton who ran 25 yards at full speed to clear the ball off the line secured the win for Coppell.

With this win Coppell improved their record to 10-2-1.
