Coppell Battles past WT White for 3rd Consecutive Win

In a hard fought district game the Coppell Boys Varsity Soccer Team (6-1-1) worked tirelessly to overcome a spirited WT White team.  Although Coppell enjoyed much of the possession, they struggled to find a way past a well-organized WT White defense.

In the first half, Coppell consistently looked the more dangerous of the two teams.  But Coppell was unable to turn their pressure into any telling chances and went into the break 0-0.

Early in the second half, Coppell’s pressure finally paid off when Jacob Capdevila was on hand to finish a chance created by a Nick Taylor run and cross.  The Cowboys continued to have the better of the game through most of the second half, but they were unable to turn their pressure and possession into goals.   As time wore on WT White stepped up their game and started to create their own chances.  With five minutes left to play, WT White broke through the Coppell defense and stole a late goal that leveled the game.

Coppell was not finished though; a long throw-in from Jordan Pemberton caused havoc in the WT White penalty area forcing a hand ball by a defender which resulted in a Coppell penalty kick.  Alex Haas made no mistake on the PK and Coppell escaped a difficult road test with a win.

For his consistently strong performance in the forward position, Nick Taylor was awarded Player of the Game.
