The city of Coppell will conduct an Outdoor Warning Siren System test at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

The outdoor sirens will produce a 30-second tone to make sure they are working properly in case of an emergency. There are nine sirens located in Coppell that are designed to warn people who are outside to seek shelter immediately.

Here are some reasons why the sirens might be activated: there is a severe thunderstorm warning with winds in excess of 70 mph; there is destructive hail that is 1.25 inches or larger in size; tornado activity poses a threat to the city of Coppell; or there is a hazardous chemical emergency.

For more information, contact the Office of Emergency Management at (972) 304-3507.
