The 28 Coppell Track athletes who qualified to advance to next week's Region 1-5A meet in Lubbock made a stop in Frisco on Friday, April 20 to compete in the Frisco Regional Qualifers Meet held at Memorial Stadium. Thirty-nine schools from Region 1 and Region 2 sent their Regional-qualifying athletes to Frisco to prepare for their upcoming Region meets. With only top athletes from each school making the cut, the Frisco meet offered fierce competition in every event.
The CHS Cowgirls placed 7th overall at the meet. The girls 4x400m Relay team of Leah Yates, Valerie Osamor, Chiamaka Ukoha and Sierra Andres racked up Coppell points with a Second Place finish. Adding Fourth Place points were Haley Cook and Sarah Agnew, who tied in Pole Vault. Fifth Place finishes were recorded by Osamor in the 400m Dash, and the girls 4x200m Relay team of Maddie Butzer, Haley Smith, Andres and Adaiwu Nwaiwu. Smith placed 8th in the 100m Dash, while Anna Novosadova placed 10th in 100m Hurdles. Agnew scratched her 800m Run due to a conflict with Pole Vault.
The Cowboys were forced to scratch athletes in a couple of key events, and finished the meet in 27th Place. Fifth place went to Chibuzor Osuji in the High Jump, as well as to the 4x400m Relay team of Chris Adkins, Darian Lowe, Troy Parker and Brandon Sanders. Derek Udeh finished in 6th Place in both the 110m and 300m Hurdles. Finishing 7th was Landon Grissett in Pole Vault, the 4x100m Relay Team of Chris Bates, Omari Cole, Gavin McDaniel and Connor Wilson, and the 4x200m Relay Team of Cole, McDaniel, Sanders and Charles West. 8th Place went to Troy Parker in 110m Hurdles, while 10th Place went to Jason Lister in High Jump and Marcus Mitchell in Triple Jump. Scratches were recorded by Clay Ross in Long Jump and Triple Jump, and by Collins Okotcha in Triple Jump.
