The Coppell High School Cowboys varisty football team will play their first game of the season against the Mesquite Horn Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hanby Stadium in Mesquite.

The Cowboys have big aspirations this season, and they are ranked the No. 85 high school team in the country in the RivalsHigh 100 list.

Jake Larson is the new starting quarterback this season, and he is replacing Joe Minden who graduated last school year.

Coppell finished 13-1 last season after losing to Euless Trinity in the playoffs.
