Coppell Farmers Market now accepts Lone Star card from food stamp clients

The Coppell Farmers Market is working to make sure less affluent members of the community can have access to healthy foods from local farmers and producers.

The farmers market is now accepting the Electronic Benefit Transfer card, which used to be known as food stamps, from Lone Star card customers to purchase $1 tokens at the Bethel Road entrance.

The tokens can be used to purchase food items or potted vegetbale and herb plants from any of the vendors. Any tokens that are not used can be returned for credit back on the card or kept for future shopping trips to the farmers market.

Also, bank debit cards are now being accepted at the farmers market. Customers can use their debit cards to purchase tokens for a nominal fee to offset the cost of using the wireless terminal at the market.
