The triple-digit weather streak ended two days before setting a record in Dallas.

The city had 40 consecutive days of 100-degree weather, but the scorching temperature streak was snapped Thursday, which was only two days away from breaking the 41-day record set in 1980.

Thunderstorms rolled into northern Dallas in the mid afternoon on Thursday and created winds that knocked the temperature down to 84 degrees. The weather heated back up to 97 degrees as the day progressed but never broke the 100-degree mark.

According to the Weather Channel, the temperature highs in Dallas this weekend are 101 degrees on Friday and Saturday and 100 degrees on Sunday.The city has a 30-percent chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms on Saturday.
