The Coppell Varsity Track teams posted excellent event finishes at the McKinney Boyd Relays on February 25, 2012. Of the twelve teams competing at McKinney’s Ron Poe Stadium, Coppell Varsity Girls finished First by a margin of more than 50 points, and Varsity Boys finished Fifth in a very close meet.

Overall, the Girls Varsity Relay Teams finished strong. In the 4x400 Meter Relay, Chiamaka Ukoha, Haley Smith, Leah Yates and Valerie Osamor finished in First Place with a time of 4:01.47. First Place also went to the 4x100 Meter Shuttle Hurdle team of  Anna Novosadova, Kate Rorhbough, Andrea Foster and Kyndal Runnels. Second Place went to the 1600 Meter Sprint Medley team of Ukoha, Osamor, Yates and Sarah Agnew. Third Place relay teams were Ukoha, Smith, Sierra Andres and Osamor in the 4x100; Kacey Hutchins, Grace Barden, Olivia Wolford and Stephanie Bilka in the 4x800; and Katie Sandfort, Barden, Hutchins and Alyssa Moino in the Distance Medley Relay. The 4x200 Meter Relay team of Rorhbough, Smith,  Foster, and Andres finished Fourth.

Individual event winners for CHS Varsity Girls were: First Place – Alyssa Moino, 3200 Meter Run and Haley Cook, Pole Vault; Second Place – Sarah Agnew, Pole Vault, Valerie Osamor, Long Jump, and Cassidy Pickrell, High Jump; Fourth Place – Katie Sandfort, 1600 Meter Run, Rosemary Brinegar, Pole Vault, and Leah Yates, Long Jump; Fifth Place – Anna Novosadova, 300 Meter Hurdles; and Sixth Place – Kate Rorhbough, 300 Meter Hurdles.

CHS Boys Varsity Relay Teams placed for points in seven races. Second Place went to the 4x110 Meter Shuttle Hurdle team of Derek Udeh, Shane Gothman, Justin Basso and Chibuzor Osuji. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Charles West, Gavin McDaniel, Chris Bates and Brandon Sanders  placed Third, as did the 4x400 Meter Relay team of Chris Adkins, Sanders, Udeh and Matt Gillen. Fourth Place went to McDaniel, West, Omari Cole and Sanders for the 4x200 Meter Relay, and to Shane Murray, Andrew Khor, Clayton Hemphill and Carson Vickroy for the Distance Medley Relay. Fifth Place relay awards went to the 4x800 Meter Relay team of Darian Lowe, Matt Baucum, Brantley Young and Mikey Gonzalez, as well as the 1600 Meter Sprint Medley team of McDaniel, Bates, Khor and Samir Merchant.

Individual event winners for the CHS Varsity Boys were: First Place – Derek Udeh, 200 Meter Hurdles; Second Place – Shane Murray, 1600 Meter Run; Fourth Place – Carson Vickroy, 3200 Meter Run; Fifth Place – Jason Lister, High Jump, Michael Fix, Pole Vault, and Clay Ross, Triple Jump; and Sixth Place – Charles West, 100 Meter Dash and Lister, 300 Meter Hurdles.

Coppell Junior Varsity Girls were Meet Champions, with points posted by: Adaiwu Nwaiwu, Andrea Abel, Amber Johnson, Jessie Cranmer, Megan Alberse, Rebecca Jamerson, Alani Gant, Julia Bordonaro, Nicole Francis, Paola Lozano, Gabby Rouke, Dabney Burch, Cerinity Strachan, Holly Swaldi, Caroline Adams, AnnaMarie Vincenzo, Bailey Bedichek, Nicole Francis, Ashley Dicken, and Brandy Sun.

Junior Varsity Boys finished in Second Place, with points from Mitchell Marcus, Kilian Bresnahan, PJ Chandler, Matt Difransisco, Robbie Hall, Austin Moore, AJ Hauer, Joey Lee, Alex Riggs, Justin Armenta, George Fairchild, Vik Kohli, Noah Freeman, Dominic Sharman, Chibuzor Osuji, Preston Ramsey, Chad Williams, Luke Jenner, Parker Wilson, Dan Carver, Anthony Johnson, Alex Kulig, and Creigh Blodget.
