Texas Creative Arts Academy will present an all-teen production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the first-ever Shakespeare in the Plaza event on Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m. in Coppell.

With City support, TCAA’s production of one of Shakepeare’s best-known comedies will be presented free to the community in the Town Center Plaza.

“We want the entire community to come out, support our youth in live theatre, and enjoy an evening under the stars,” said Donna Park, Executive Director of Texas Creative Arts Academy. “The uniqueness of this particular event is that the show is comprised entirely of youth and teens. It’s our organization’s mission to educate and create performance opportunities for our youth and we are thrilled to be able to perform in this outdoor venue. The City has been extremely enthusiastic and helpful making it come to life.”

Shakespeare in the Plaza will take place on Friday, June 22 beginning at 7 p.m. The “gates” will open at 7 p.m. with a pre-show of entertainment. A Midsummer Night’s Dream will begin at 8 p.m. Picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs are encouraged and recommended.

“Our hope is to have this become an annual event for the City of Coppell, and help raise arts awareness community-wide," Park said. "As a member of the Coppell Arts Council, we hope this event can do just that."

While admission to the event is free to the public, an event like this takes sponsor dollars to make it happen. TCAA is still looking for local businesses to help support this community arts event. If you are willing to help or know someone who is, please contact Donna Park at 972.304.0160 or donna@texascreativeartsacademy.com.
