Come and join the Coppell Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business for its quarterly luncheon on Wednesday, June 28.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will last until 1 p.m. Tickets are $35, and can be purchased at business.coppellchamber.org/events. The event is being held at the Hackberry Creek Country Club (1901 W. Royal Lane) in Irving.
The keynote speaker will be Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez, the only Hispanic-female sheriff in the country.
Valdez is also only one of four female sheriffs in Texas. As sheriff, she continues to work diligently on improvements within the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. Some of the department’s accomplishments since her election include: The hiring of 400 new detention service officers and the expansion of the freeway management patrol system which covers over 78 miles of in-county highways, the construction of the South Tower Jail Facility, one of the largest direct supervision facilities in the country with the capacity to house 2,304 inmates, the current construction of a 300 bed medical facility within the Lew Sterrett Justice Center, and improvements to the quality of overall healthcare for mentally ill inmates.
Also in attendance will be Coppell High School senior Celeste Johnson. Johnson will display and present her fashion designs to those in attendance.
Johnson was invited to take part in a fashion show later this year in Birmingham, England.
