Happy Flag Day!

Gayle Westapher, Membership Director for the Coppell Chamber of Commerce volunteers her time helping the Coppell Rotary Club put up American flags for residents and businesses in Coppell.

The Coppell Rotary Club began their Flag Program in 2002, providing residents and businesses with a way to commemorate and honor 5 major U.S. holidays.

The Flag Program is the main fundraising program for the Rotary Club and for local volunteer groups and service projects. Among these volunteers are the Boy Scots and Girl Scouts.

“I love the Rotary Club because it’s like a second family. They do such good work not only within our community of Coppell but internationally.” Said Gayle Westapher, Membership Director for the Coppell Chamber, “The Flag Program is a great way to honor our country.”

Westapher joined the Rotary club in 2006, and at the time the Club was only distributing about 100 flags. Nowadays, the Rotary Club is distributing about 1,000 flags every Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day. Westapher is in charge of organizing the distribution of flags for the Chamber and Old Town Coppell.
