The true story of Helen Keller – blind, deaf, and mute – is a study of how children learn language. But, in addition, it is about perseverance and stubbornness as Helen’s teacher, Annie Sullivan never gives up on the girl’s potential to live a full life, even when others are content to give up. In this
play, we see that Annie is Helen’s salvation and, likewise, Helen is Annie’s life-long self-redemption.
