Troop 840 travels to one of the most Historical and Cultural landmark which is dramatically Beautiful and often referred to as Texas' Gift to the Nation.
Big Bend National Park encompasses the largest protected area of the Chihuahuan Desert in the United States.
Rio Grande Wild and its Scenic River forms its southern boundary which serves as a major part of the international border between the United States and Mexico.

Planning a trip to the Big Bend National Park with our scouts has been in the works for many year and
we were so excited and thrilled to be able to visit this beautiful place which has the most breathtaking views of the
Mountains, desert, cactus, canyons and of course the Rio Grande, Santa Elena Canyon Trail, Lost Mine Trail and Window Trail.

Over 55 scouts and 25 adults joined to embark on this Hiking Adventure. It was a weekend full of unforgettable memories while on a Digital Detox.
Our scouts and parents enjoyed stargazing as big bend is away from developed areas and has the least light pollution.
Scouts hiked over 8 miles in 2 days in the clean crisp air at Nature Trail at Rio Grande Village and Santa Elena Canyon on the first day
On the second day, one group hiked at Lost Mine Trails and a different group hiked at Window Trails for about 5 miles.
Scouts learnt about hiking etiquettes, being well equipped, staying hydrated, packing the essentials and making good use of time.
