Coppell DWI Task Force Arrests Eight During Holidays

From Dec. 18-31, the Coppell Police Department dispatched additional officers to serve as a Driving While Intoxicated Task Force to help keep the roadways safe in areas of the city where drunk driving offenses are likely to happen.

The Task Force made eight alcohol-related arrests and had a total 208 traffic stops during that time period. Six of the alcohol-related arrests were DWI charges and one arrest was a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) charge for a person who was under 21 years old, according a news release from the city. The other alcohol-related arrest was a Public Intoxication charge.

Two of the traffic arrests resulted from officers pulling over people who were "wrong way drivers," including a vehicle heading north in the southbound lanes of S. MacArthur Boulevard and another vehicle that was driving south in the northbound portion of SH 121.

Fortunately, the Task Force helped keep the roadways safe, and there were no alcohol-induced traffic accidents during that period of the holiday season.
